Quick Guide to the FSA for corporate lawyers 2009

This is a short overview of the financial services regulatory role of the FSA, its functions and its powers. Considerations relating to the FSA arise not simply in the context of corporate transactions involving financial sector firms, but in matters affecting corporate clients generally. This lecture will give you a sound understanding of the nature of one of the most important regulatory bodies in Britain. These sessions are aimed at lawyers to ensure they recognise issues when a transaction they are working on "rubs-up" against a specialist area. They highlight "elephant traps" which lawyers need to think about when considering specialist issues, even if they intend to instruct the specialist department in due course.
