The recently reported case of Vertex Data Science Ltd -v- Powergen Retail Ltd deals with an outsourcing contract dispute where the supplier was seeking to keep the contract going despite the customer’s desire to exit. The court considered whether it would compel reluctant contracting parties to stay together in long-term contracts. This talk looks at the implications of the decision for long-term contractual arrangements – both for suppliers and customers – and will be of particular interest to anyone who outsources any of their business functions or is thinking of doing so.
